My grandfather, father and many family friends were artists, so I really appreciate the skill of watercolor, landscape and portrait painters. The ocean, sailboats, mountains and our seaside town were the featured paintings in our home.
Having graduated in Interior Architecture, I also love structure, geometric shapes and patterns. So that is the direction my first paintings took.
Shortly there after I began adding “dots’ and “bubbles” to structured pieces and they began taking over and becoming the foundation of a different series of work which has movement, excitement and unexpected forms.
Most recently I decided to take the idea of rigid shapes (my geometric style) and soften the edges, be spontaneous and let the painting take me where it wanted to go. I truly let go and let it happen with no plan in mind except for the color palette. Of course some dots showed up as well.
I am excited to see where this "new abstract" adventure takes me next.
